Kudos to the New Syokimau OCS and Team!

If you’ve been feeling a bit safer walking around Syokimau this weekend, you aren’t imagining things. Our new Officer Commanding Station (OCS) is officially on the ground, and they mean business.

In a major win for community policing, officers from the Syokimau Police Station executed a massive, coordinated night raid between the late hours of Friday, May 15, and the early morning of Saturday, May 16, 2026. The operation, led personally by the new OCS, targeted crime hotspots across the entire Syokimau Estate (Both east and west of the Nairobi Expressway. The raid took a significant amount of narcotics off our streets. Four key suspects were apprehended with varying quantities of bhang:

Enforcing Liquor Laws & Shisha Ban

The hospitality sector in Syokimau is being put on notice. Establishments operating illegally or past hours are no longer being tolerated.

  • Two bar operators were arrested for operating bars without valid licenses and flouting stipulated operating hours.
  • In a direct hit to local drug-law violations, police raided Illusions Bar and Restaurant, where they confiscated multiple active shisha pots in direct violation of the NACADA Act.
  • Additionally, 22 revelers were rounded up during the operation and booked for being drunk and disorderly. A number of assault and theft suspects were also arrested.

To ensure our homes and residents are secure, the team also locked up individuals tied to local property damage and violence.

What Happens Next? All exhibits were meticulously documented via inventory, and all suspects are currently being held in custody. They are scheduled to be formally arraigned in court on Monday, May 18, 2026.

Great Start for the New OCS

For a long time, residents have called for stricter enforcement around Nation Road and Kicheko. This swift, no-nonsense operation (tracked under OB Nos: 35/15/05/2026 and 05/16/05/2026) proves that the new leadership is listening to our cries.

Word from the station is that the operations shall continue until the drug menace in our neighborhood is completely eradicated.

We extend our appreciation to the Athi River East Sub-County police command and the entire Syokimau police team. Keep it up, Officers! We are fully behind you in making Syokimau a safe place to live and do business.
